How Much Is a Lion on TikTok?

By BetterTok Updated

A Lion costs 29,999 coins on TikTok LIVE. In US dollars that is about $315 if you buy the coins on TikTok's website and about $450 in the app, and the exact figure depends on your coin package and country. TikTok does not publish what a creator receives per gift. Estimates for a Lion run from about $75 to about $157, before any fees.

What you need

  • To send a Lion: a TikTok account aged 18 or over (or your local age of majority, if older) with 29,999 coins in the balance
  • To give a Lion its own sound on your LIVE: a BetterTok account, free to start, with your TikTok username connected
  • OBS or TikTok LIVE Studio set to include your computer's audio

What a Lion costs

The coin price is the simple part: 29,999 coins in the gift panel, the same as 29,999 Roses. What those coins cost you depends on how many you buy and where you buy them, as TikTok's Virtual Items Policy says.

  • On TikTok's website: about $310 to $320, at a little over one cent a coin. You can buy a fixed pack or type in a custom amount, so you can get exactly what you need.
  • In the app: about $430 to $460, at roughly one and a half cents a coin, depending on which coin package you buy.

TikTok's coin page puts the website saving at around 25%, because the third-party service fee is lower. These are approximate US prices and they change. Elsewhere, your Recharge screen shows the price in your own currency. To work out your own figure, divide the price of a coin package by the coins in it, then multiply by 29,999.

Why you see different prices for a Lion

Search for a Lion and you will find anything from about $300 to about $450 quoted for the same gift. Most of that gap is the website price against the app price. Some pages use an older coin rate, and some mix up gifts with similar names:

  • Leon the Kitten: 4,888 coins
  • Royal Lions Scepter: 15,000 coins
  • Leon and Lion: 34,000 coins
  • Holiday Lion: 39,999 coins, when it is on offer

How to give a Lion its own sound on your LIVE

If you stream, you can have a sound play only when a Lion arrives.

  1. Open Sound Alerts and switch it on

Open Sound Alerts from the sidebar. If the switch says Click to Enable, it is off, so press it.

  2. Pick the Lion

Press Create Alert, pick Specific Gift, choose the Lion and press Continue.

  3. Choose a sound

Pick one from the library or upload your own MP3 or WAV. A Specific Gift alert plays ahead of any Any Gift alert.

  4. Test it

Press Test on the alert's row, then check your streaming app picks it up: Desktop Audio in OBS, or the audio mixer in TikTok LIVE Studio.

  5. Keep BetterTok open

The sound plays from the dashboard or the desktop app, so keep one of them open while you are LIVE.

What the creator gets from a Lion

TikTok does not publish a payout per gift. A gift earns the creator Diamonds, and TikTok says Diamonds measure popularity and do not automatically mean a payment. Its Rewards Policy says a LIVE Reward Payment can also depend on things like time spent LIVE, new followers, viewer engagement, ranking and content quality, and that fees and payment limits may apply.

So every dollar figure here is an estimate that moves with the coin package the viewer bought. Two are worth knowing:

  • About $157, at most. In December 2022 TikTok said it shares half of its net revenue from virtual items with creators, after app-store and payment costs. Half of a $315 website purchase is about $157, and a $450 app purchase less a 30% app-store cut comes to about the same. Payment costs come off before that split, so treat this as a ceiling.
  • About $75. Many creator calculators count a gift as half its coin price in Diamonds, so about 15,000 Diamonds for a Lion, at about $0.005 per Diamond. TikTok does not publish this rate either.

To see your own numbers, open Profile in the TikTok app, tap the Menu button, then Balance, then LIVE rewards. How TikTok gift earnings work covers the whole path from coins to cash.

Where a Lion sits among TikTok's gifts

A Lion is near the top of the panel, but it is not the most expensive gift.

  • Just below: Phoenix at 25,999 coins and Dragon Flame at 26,999
  • The same price: Golden Sports Car at 29,999
  • Just above: Sam the Whale at 30,000, then Zeus and Leon and Lion at 34,000
  • At the top: TikTok Stars at 39,999, Pegasus at 42,999 and TikTok Universe at 44,999

Those prices come from TikTok's gift list on 5 November 2026. Some gifts only appear in some regions or at some times of year, so your panel may differ.

Thanking a Lion without asking for one

A Lion is a lot of money, so thank the sender by name and carry on with your LIVE. TikTok's LIVE Monetization Guidelines say a LIVE can lose monetization for repeatedly soliciting Gifts or pressuring viewers, so do not push anyone to send one. If you want a target on screen, set up a gift goal.
