What is TTS on TikTok?

TTS (Text to Speech) on TikTok allows a computerized voice to read out chat messages or donation alerts during a live stream. It's a popular way to increase viewer engagement and monetize streams as viewers often donate to hear their message read aloud.

How do I enable text to speech on TikTok Live?

Sign up for BetterTok for free and link your TikTok username. Open Stream TTS in the dashboard, pick a voice and choose what gets read: every chat message, messages that start with a prefix or command, or gifts above a coin value. Keep the dashboard or the BetterTok desktop app open while you stream, and capture your computer's audio in OBS or TikTok LIVE Studio.

Which TTS voices are available?

The free plan uses your browser's built-in voices. The Creator plan adds 100+ voices, including Brian, Amy, Emma and character voices like SpongeBob, in languages such as Spanish, French, German and Japanese.

Is TTS free with BetterTok?

Yes. The free plan reads up to 150 messages a day with your browser's voices. The Creator plan ($9.99 a month) unlocks unlimited TTS with 100+ voices such as Brian, Amy and SpongeBob.

Can viewers trigger TTS with gifts?

Yes. Turn on Gift TTS and BetterTok reads a gift aloud, with who sent it, once it reaches the minimum coin value you set. With Actions & Events, a specific gift, such as a Rose or a Galaxy, can also trigger any text read aloud.

What are funny things to make TTS say?

Viewers love making TTS say funny phrases! Popular choices include tongue twisters ('Peter Piper picked a peck...'), rapid-fire numbers ('77777777'), jokes, or having the voice read funny copypastas. Just ensure your chat follows your stream's community guidelines.
