TikTok LIVE Games

TikTok LIVE games give your viewers something to do besides watch. A gift can put someone on the wheel, take the throne or hit the boss; a chat message can guess a letter or a number. The game runs as an overlay on your stream, so everyone watching sees who is winning, and BetterTok keeps the score while you talk.

What is a TikTok LIVE game?

A TikTok LIVE game is an overlay your viewers play while you are live. It listens to what they do on TikTok (gifts, likes and chat messages) and turns each one into a move: an entry, a hit, a guess. The board updates on your stream in real time, and the game picks the winner by its own rules, in front of everyone.

There are two kinds. In a gift game, a gift is the way in: it buys an entry, a hit or a place on the board, which gives viewers a reason to send one beyond saying thanks. A chat game costs nothing to play: viewers type their guesses in the chat, which keeps a quiet room talking and lets a new viewer join in with their first message.

Each game is a link. Add it to TikTok LIVE Studio as a Link source, or to OBS or Streamlabs as a Browser source, and it runs by itself while you are live.

Gift games with their own pages

Each of these has a page with its themes and settings.

More themes are in the overlay gallery.

How to add a game to your TikTok LIVE

Set a game up once and run a new round whenever you like.

  1. 1

    Connect your TikTok username

Sign up free and connect the account you go live with, so the game receives your viewers' gifts, likes and chat.

  2. 2

Pick a game and a theme

Choose a gift game or a chat game, then a theme that fits the look of your stream.

  3. 3

    Set the rules

Decide what counts: the smallest gift that enters, how long a round lasts, the word or the number to guess.

  4. 4

Add the game to your stream

Copy the game's link and add it to TikTok LIVE Studio as a Link source, or to OBS as a Browser source.

  5. 5

    Start a round

Start the game from the dashboard (some start by themselves) and tell your viewers how to play: which gift to send, or what to type in the chat.

Step by step for both apps: how to add overlays in TikTok LIVE Studio or OBS.

What makes a game work on stream

The overlay keeps the score. These decide whether people play:

  • ✓Explain how to play in one sentence
  • ✓Repeat it when new viewers arrive
  • ✓Keep rounds short so latecomers make the next one
  • ✓Make the cheapest way in a small gift or a chat message
  • ✓Call out the leader by name
  • ✓Hand over the prize on stream

On a quiet stream, start with a chat game: typing costs nothing, and every guess is a message in your chat. When you run a gift game, put a leaderboard next to it so the people who gift the most are seen even when they do not win.

Gift games

Spin Royale. A gift worth at least your minimum bid puts a viewer on the wheel, and you can add viewers by hand. One spin picks the winner, or elimination mode spins round after round until one viewer is left.

Live Auction. Viewers bid with gifts, and the highest coin total when the timer stops wins the item.

Throne King. A gift worth at least your minimum bid takes the throne and restarts the countdown, and whoever holds it when time runs out wins the round.

Hold the Gold. Every gift steals the gold from whoever has it, and whoever holds it when the round ends wins.

Brainrot Royale. Gifts send characters into an arena where they fight on their own, and the last one standing wins.

DiscDrop. Viewers enter with gifts and drop as discs through a board of pegs. A disc that lands in a safe slot survives the round, and the rounds go on until one viewer is left. A viewer who is knocked out can buy back in with a gift.

Team vs Team. You give each team its own gifts, and every one of those gifts scores for its team. You can also let viewers chip in by typing a team's word in the chat. The higher total when the countdown ends wins.

Boss Battle. The whole chat fights one boss together: gifts deal damage by their coin value, likes chip away at it, and every kill brings a tougher wave.

Lucky Roll. The gift you choose spins a reel of prizes, with odds you set for each one.

Treasure Hunt. Gifts earn tickets into a treasure chest, and you can let follows and likes earn them too. When the timer runs out, or you open the chest, one ticket wins.

Chat games

Hangman. Viewers type !h and a letter to guess it, or !h and the whole answer to solve it.

Word Scramble. The letters of a word are mixed up, and the first viewer to type !s and the right word wins the round.

Word Chain. Each word has to start with the letter the last one ended on, and no word can be used twice.

Word Grid. Viewers guess a five-letter word, and each guess shows which letters are in the right place, in the word but somewhere else, or not in it at all.

Word Rank. Viewers guess a secret word, and each guess is ranked by how close it is in meaning.

Odd One Out. Four pictures, three of which belong together. Viewers type 1 to 4 to vote for the one that does not.

Guess the Number. The first viewer to type your secret number in the chat wins. In gift mode, viewers send a gift you choose instead, and the first whose count reaches the number wins.

TikTok LIVE Games: FAQ

What games can you play on TikTok LIVE?

With BetterTok you can run gift games such as Spin Royale, live auctions, Throne King, Hold the Gold, Boss Battle and Team vs Team, and chat games such as Hangman, Word Scramble, Word Chain, Word Grid, Word Rank, Odd One Out and Guess the Number. Each one runs as an overlay your viewers see on stream.

How do I add a game to my TikTok LIVE?

Connect your TikTok username in BetterTok, pick a game and a theme, then add the game's link to TikTok LIVE Studio as a Link source or to OBS as a Browser source. The game reacts to your viewers' gifts, likes and chat while you are live.

Can viewers play without sending gifts?

Yes. The chat games are played by typing in the chat, and Treasure Hunt can also give tickets for follows and likes. In the gift games, a gift is the way in.

Are the games free?

Two are: Treasure Hunt, in every theme, and Word Rank, in its Classic theme, run on the free plan. The other games, and the other Word Rank themes, are part of the Creator plan ($9.99 a month or $99.99 a year). Your BetterTok account itself is free.

Do the games work in TikTok LIVE Studio?

Yes. Add the game's link as a Link source in TikTok LIVE Studio, or as a Browser source in OBS or Streamlabs. You need to go live from a computer: an overlay cannot be added to a LIVE started in the TikTok phone app.

How is the winner decided?

By the game's rules, which you can see on screen: the highest coin total, the last one standing, the first right answer or a draw weighted by entries. BetterTok keeps the score while you are live, so you do not have to count.
