How to Add Sound Alerts to TikTok LIVE

By BetterTok Updated

To add sound alerts to TikTok LIVE, give each moment a sound in a tool that follows your LIVE, then make sure your streaming app includes your computer's audio. In BetterTok, open Sound Alerts, press Click to Enable, press Create Alert, pick what plays a sound and choose it. Keep BetterTok open while you are LIVE.

What you need

  • A BetterTok account with your TikTok username connected
  • Your own MP3 or WAV files, or sounds from the built-in library
  • OBS or TikTok LIVE Studio set to include your computer's audio

How sound alerts reach your stream

LIVE Studio's own alert sources can come with sounds, so check those first if you only need a simple alert. BetterTok's sound alerts are for when each gift or event should play its own sound.

They play from the BetterTok dashboard or desktop app, not from an overlay link. Your viewers hear them because your streaming app captures your computer's audio: Desktop Audio in OBS, or the audio mixer in LIVE Studio.

Set up your sound alerts

  1. Open Sound Alerts and switch it on

Open Sound Alerts from the sidebar. If the switch says Click to Enable, it is off, so press it.

  2. Give every gift a sound

Press Create Alert and pick Any Gift. Leave Coin range empty and press Continue. Pick a sound from the library or upload your own.

  3. Give bigger gifts their own sound

Create another Any Gift alert and set Min under Coin range.

  4. Give one gift its own sound

Create an alert with Specific Gift, pick a gift such as a Rose, press Continue and choose a sound.

  5. Add follows, shares and other events

The same list has New Follower, Share, New Super Fan, Viewer Joins, Likes, Chat Message, level ups, battles, Treasure Chest, polls, Comment Pinned and Product Purchase.

  6. Test it the way it will play

Each alert row has its own switch, volume and Test button. Press the pencil to set Cooldowns.

  7. Check your volume and your audio

Open the Settings tab and check Global Volume is above 0%. Then play a test and check your streaming app picks it up, and keep the dashboard or desktop app open while you are LIVE.

Which sound plays

A gift's Specific Gift alert plays ahead of any Any Gift alert. If several Any Gift alerts match, one is picked at random, so keep their coin ranges apart.

Free and Creator limits

The free plan has 5 sound alerts, with your own sounds or ones from the library. The Creator plan ($9.99 a month) makes them unlimited. To have a voice read gifts aloud too, set up text to speech.

Frequently asked questions

Do sound alerts need a Browser source in OBS?

No. BetterTok sound alerts play from the dashboard or the desktop app rather than from an overlay link, so keep one of them open while you stream and let OBS capture your computer's audio.

Why can't my viewers hear my sound alerts?

If you can hear them, your stream is not picking up your computer's audio. Check Desktop Audio in the OBS Audio Mixer, or the audio mixer in TikTok LIVE Studio. If you cannot hear them either, check the Sound Alerts switch and Global Volume on the Settings tab.

Which sound plays when a gift matches more than one row?

A gift's Specific Gift alert plays ahead of any Any Gift alert. If several Any Gift alerts match, one is picked at random, so keep their coin ranges apart.

What file types can I upload for a sound alert?

MP3 or WAV. You can also pick sounds from the built-in library without uploading anything.

Can I stop one gift playing a sound over and over?

Yes. Press the pencil on an alert and set Cooldowns, so a burst of the same gift does not repeat the sound non-stop.
