# BetterTok

> BetterTok is a toolkit for TikTok LIVE creators: overlays for TikTok LIVE Studio and OBS, text-to-speech, sound alerts, Actions & Events automation, a chatbot and live games. It works in the browser and as a desktop app. Free to start; the Creator plan is $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year.

BetterTok connects to your TikTok LIVE and reacts to what your viewers do: gifts, follows, likes, shares, subscriptions and chat. Each overlay is a link: add it to TikTok LIVE Studio as a Link source, or to OBS or Streamlabs as a Browser source, and it updates by itself while you are live.

## How to set up an overlay

1. Sign up at https://bettertok.app and connect the TikTok account you go live with.
2. Pick an overlay and a theme, then change colours and text to fit your stream.
3. Copy the overlay link.
4. In TikTok LIVE Studio, add a Link source and paste the link. In OBS or Streamlabs, add a Browser source instead.
5. Go live. The overlay reacts to your viewers on its own.

It reacts to a gift (any gift, a specific gift or a coin amount), a follow, likes, a share, a subscription or a chat word, and answers with a sound, a spoken message, an overlay animation, an OBS scene switch or a key press on your PC. The last two need the desktop app.

### What games can viewers play on a TikTok LIVE with BetterTok?

Gift games such as Spin Royale, live auctions, Throne King, Hold the Gold, Boss Battle and Team vs Team, and chat games such as Hangman, Word Scramble, Word Chain, Word Rank, Odd One Out and Guess the Number. Treasure Hunt and Word Rank (in its Classic theme) are on the free plan; the other games are part of the Creator plan.

### Does BetterTok have a TikTok LIVE chatbot?

Yes. It answers chat commands such as !points, welcomes viewers the first time they join, thanks them for gifts, follows and shares, and posts timed messages, all in words the creator writes. It is not an AI. It requires the BetterTok desktop app to send messages in the LIVE chat.

### What does the BetterTok desktop app add?

The desktop app runs on Windows, Mac with Apple Silicon and Linux. It adds what a browser cannot do: the chatbot's messages in the LIVE chat, OBS scene control, Stream Deck buttons, Spotify playback for song requests and key presses for games.

### How many overlay themes does BetterTok have?

More than 200, across 30 overlay families: live auctions (Coin Match, Battle Score, Throne King), goals and stream stats, leaderboards, last-gifter and last-follower alerts, gift reactions (Coin Jar, Gift Cannon, Like Fountain), games (Spin Royale, Brainrot Royale, DiscDrop), song requests, timers, chat feeds and a stream pet. Most families have about ten themes.

### Which overlay themes are free?

You can start free with no credit card. The free plan includes the goal, leaderboard, timer, last-follower and coin jar overlays in their Classic themes, plus the social media overlay. The Creator plan ($9.99 a month or $99.99 a year) unlocks every theme, plus live auctions, battle overlays and games such as Coin Match, Battle Score and Spin Royale.

### How do I add an overlay to my TikTok LIVE?

Copy the overlay's link from your BetterTok dashboard. In TikTok LIVE Studio, add a Link source and paste it; in OBS or Streamlabs, add a Browser source and paste it. Size it to fit your layout and go live. There is nothing to install, and the overlay starts reacting to gifts, follows and likes on its own.

### Do the overlays work in TikTok LIVE Studio and OBS?

Yes. Every BetterTok overlay is a link, so it works in TikTok LIVE Studio, OBS Studio, Streamlabs, XSplit and Prism Live Studio. Changes you make in the dashboard show on stream straight away, even mid-stream.

### Can I use overlays when I go live from my phone?

Not on a regular camera LIVE from the TikTok app: TikTok sends only the camera picture, so nothing drawn on your screen reaches viewers. Overlays show on streams you run from a computer with TikTok LIVE Studio, OBS or Streamlabs.

### How do live auction overlays get more gifts?

A live auction shows a real-time ranking of your top gifters. Viewers can see who is in the lead and how close they are, so they gift to take the #1 spot or to hold on to it.

### Can I change an overlay's colours and style?

Yes. Every theme can be adjusted from the dashboard: colours, sizes, fonts and animations, with no coding.

### Can overlays trigger sounds, text-to-speech or scene changes?

Yes. With Actions & Events you can play a sound, read a message aloud with text-to-speech, switch OBS scenes or play an overlay animation when a viewer sends a gift, follows, likes, shares or types a keyword in chat.
